Find Your Joy at Westmoreland County Libraries: National Library Week 2026

What brings you joy? No matter if it’s cozying up with a new story, learning a new skill, gathering with community or something else, you can find your joy at the Westmoreland County Libraries– your friendly, accessible connection to knowledge!

National Library Week, April 19–25, 2026, is a time to celebrate the many ways libraries bring people together, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning. A proclamation was made by the Commissioners of Westmoreland County in support of this celebration at their March 26 meeting, encouraging “all residents to visit their library, explore its resources, and celebrate all the ways that the library helps our community find joy.”

At Westmoreland County Libraries, our joy is seeing you in our libraries, digging into our resources and utilizing our services.  Regardless of you being a long-time patron, a new neighbor, or haven’t visited in a while, now is the perfect time to explore all the library has to offer and celebrate all the ways that libraries help our community find joy. Then, share that joy with neighbors and local leaders.  We also ask that you share your joy with library staff, volunteers, and administrators – especially on Tuesday, April 21, which is National Library Workers Day. Let them know how much you appreciate the work they do!

Whatever brings you joy, the library has something for everyone. Whether you’re preparing for a career change, launching a business, raising a family, or embracing retirement, Westmoreland County Libraries are here to support your journey. Libraries serve as hubs for learning, creativity, and connection, helping people of all ages explore new ideas and opportunities. We look forward to seeing you find and share your joy at the libraries!

First celebrated in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April.
