Make county museums part of your family’s Pennsylvania 250th celebration experience! Through partnerships with select county museums and the Westmoreland County Libraries, library card holders can borrow museum passes that provide FREE general admission for up to two adults and four children.
New for 2026, Historic Hanna’s Town which opens for the season on May 2 with all-day activities and demonstrations for the entire family!
The six other passes include:
- West Overton Village, also seasonal, will reopen Sunday, May 10. You won’t want to miss their Spring Makers Market on May 9;
- The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, with a Liberty Bell replica made of glass mosaic depicting the regions landmarks;
- Fort Ligonier Museum, where history comes to life;
- Lincoln Highway Experience located ON the Lincoln Highway, the first coast-to-coast highway;
- Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Museum where you can see and interact with real historic fire equipment (open during Night Market);
- Bushy Run Battlefield, National Historic Landmark and PA State Historic Park.
There is no fee to borrow a museum pass. Passes can be checked out for one week, but because of their high demand, passes may not be renewed. Card holders are encouraged to check availability directly with their home library and plan museum visits in advance, especially during the weekends. Visit wcl.link/museums to view available museum passes in the catalog.
Museums open a whole new world to visitors. In-person experiences are a great way for families to not only spend time together but engage with the stories that shaped Pennsylvania and Westmoreland County.
Westmoreland County Libraries are grateful to our museum partners and hope that we can continue to grow this partnership.
